Featured Deck Types with Helpful Cards

Black Energetic

Black Energetic Mastery, one of my personal favorites, has great potential with a great deal of differant Main Personalities and Playing styles! Here's the text on this Baby Saga Mastery...

"At the start of your Rejuvenation Step, your opponent discards a card from his hand. When 1 of your Black Style cards discards or removes from the last card in your opponent's hand or Discard Pile, Advance your MP 1 level."

Black Style had already been given a reputation for a disruptive playing style, and this Mastery takes that to a whole new level, allowing you to truly feed off of your opponent's weakness! Because of the speedy leveling of this Mastery, many Personalities can fit well with it, especially ones with powerful cards at higher levels. But to play Black Energetic Mastery to it's best, you will need to use timing, and even some card combos. However versatile this Mastery is, there are certain cards almost any Black Energetic deck should consider playing, to help really use the Mastery's abilities to their best. Since you can play this Mastery in either Expanded Format or Focused Format, I will list cards according to that, although most cards you'd play for Focused Format you would play in addition to the Expanded Format cards.

-Focused Format Cards-

· Black Command (Shadow Dragons Saga): This is a must in most Black Energetic decks, Focused or Expanded. It's an Event that removes from the game the bottom 5 cards of your opponent's discard pile, which can trigger your Mastery if you get rid of the last one. But it doesn't stop there, because if your opponent didn't have that many cards in their discard pile, you take the rest of it off the bottom of their Life Deck! This card can help you gain quick levels, and comes highly recommended.

· Black Tunneling Technique (Shadow Dragons Saga): This is another card that can hurt your opponent's Discard Pile, which is the easiest way to Advance levels with the Mastery. It's a Masked Energy Attack doing 7 Life Cards of damage and costing 3 power stages to perform, but after you flip this card over, you can remove up to 6 cards in your opponent's discard pile from the game! Of course, it doesn't take the remaining cards off the bottom of their Life Deck like Black Comand, but it has other advantages, such as giving you the choice of which cards to remove, and allowing you to remove 1 more card.

· Black Foul Weather (Lost Episodes Saga): This card is a perfect example of how to "Chain Level", or to advance multiple levels easily in 1 combat. It's a Setup that first discards the top card of your opponent's Life Deck for each Personality in play, but then removes the bottom 6 cards of your Opponent's Discard Pile! Here's how this works great; let's say you just used one of the above cards to remove the last discarded card, and Advanced a level, since your opponent' doesn't have any discard pile, you can't remove the last card again, right? Wrong. Since this card will first discard at least 2 cards (Because you and your opponent will have at least 1 personality in play) it puts more cards in the discard pile, and immediately removes them, giving another quick level!

· Black Full Force Impact (Baby Saga): Another very helpful attack in this kind of deck. It's a fairly small Energy attack, only doing 7 Life Cards of damage and costing 3 Power Stages to perform, but when you play it, your opponent has to discard a card from their hand! This is one of few cards that can automatically discard a card from your opponent's hand, without the risk of it being "If Successful", as most are! And if you time it right, you can discard the last card with this, and that might have even been the block they were saving, meaning they'll even have to take some damage!

-Expanded Format Cards-

· Kid Buu's Prepped Crash (Kid Buu Saga): This card can help set up for some nice leveling possibilities. It's a Focused Energy Attack, only doing 4 Life Cards and costing 2 Power Stages to perform, but if you don't use it's Empower of 2, and if the attack is successful, you can remove your opponent's entire Discard Pile from the game! Although it is not a Black Style card, and does not trigger the Mastery by itself, it can certainly help clean up a Discard pile with a lot of cards in it, making it easier for your other cards!

· Black Buffer Block (Kid Buu Saga): This is one of the most useful Blocks for Expanded Black decks. It stops either a Physical or Energy attack, and let's you search your Discard Pile for a card that can discard a card in your opponent's hand, and place it into your hand! It is Removed from the game after use, but it can stop an attack, and give you another card in your hand! In fact, it doesn't just give you an additional card, but it gives you a card that can discard another card from your opponent's hand! A very nice card.

· Black Swivel Attack (Kid Buu Saga): This is like a powered up Expanded version of Black Full Force Impact. It's a Physical attack doing +3 power stages of damage, and your opponent has to remove from the game a Non-Dragon Ball card from his hand! And like with Black Full Force Impact, this happens before they even get a chance to block it, meaning it can be that much more effective! Definately try play both this and Black Full Force Impact together in an Expanded deck.

· Black Exertion (Kid Buu Saga): Possibly one of the most deadly cards for any Expanded Black deck. It's a simple Energy Attack, but if you don't use it's Empower of 3, you can attach it to your opponent's Main Personality. And while it's attached, damage from your attacks cannot be prevented! That means Endurance, which plays a big rule in Dragon Ball GT, has no effect on your attacks! And there aren't a lot of cards that can detach this card, making it a real pain to get rid of!

As far as choosing a Main Personality, there's really no end to the options! But some of the more popular ones to play include Goku, which focuses on you drawing cards, and your opponent discarding them, Kid Buu, who has some deadly power behind all the disruption as well, and even the new Villain Invasion Subset version of King Cold, whose powers were designed to work well for this Mastery!

So have fun with this Mastery, and play around until you find just the way you like to play it, and chances are you'll come up with a deck that leaves most opponent's desperately trying to do something, while you whittle away at their hand, discard pile and in time, Life Deck as well! Happy Deck Building!
